Kudos
to Mr. Ali Khan for writing a thoughtful letter to the next Prime
Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi. As usual one of our right
wingers, a Kiran Mehta see faults in it. Sadly,
the hardcore right and left are incapable of seeing another point of
view but tearing up others – and of course their freedom must be valued
without having to agree. In a democracy, the best thing to do is respond
with a better answer.
So, here is my response to Kiran Mehta’s five questions (at the very bottom of this entire note);
1.
He said, very few people – that is Muslims of India, have the honor and
privilege of choosing their home land – compared to the 80% Hindu
majority who did not have that option of choosing.
2.
He said, the new government will allow me to express my feelings of
patriotism in my own language – that is Jai Hind, as opposed to Modi’s
language he contrasted Bharat Mata ki Jai.
3.
Muslims, Dalits, Christians and other do not want any appeasements,
handouts or favors, all they want is to have equal opportunities, access
and equal say. Thank God India is a democracy that allows every one the
freedom to speak of which you and I are beneficiaries.
4.
He addressed the specifics – to be treated like an Indian as guaranteed
in the constitution, but the right wing elements of India cannot see an
India together, like the goon Giriraj, who does not treat other Indians
as equals. Ali did the right thing by asking questions, that is the
right of every citizen.
5.
Yes, Indian electorate has chosen development, and Muslims, Christians
and Dalits have also chosen Modi in the same percentages as the Hindus.
Modi has the best answer for your question, he said, “whether you voted
for me or not, I represent you, and I am your prime Minister’.
All
Ali Khan letter must be admired, and I do hope that Mr. Modi invites
him to the inauguration and gives him a hug and assures him that every
Indian is his Bhai or Behan as he has repeatedly said.
What Ali
Khan did was fulfill the duty of a responsible citizen to point out the
flaws, so India can be flawless, that is Patriotism and we need to
reward this guy for writing such a letter. Indeed, a true patriotic
Indian is the one who takes the responsibility to tear down the
government policies, if they are wrong, no matter who they are, God,
Gandhi, Pundit Nehru or Narendra Modi.

Kudos to Mr. Ali Khan for writing a thoughtful letter to the next Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi. As usual one of our right wingers, a Kiran Mehta see faults in it. Sadly, the hardcore right and left are incapable of seeing another point of view but tearing up others – and of course their freedom must be valued without having to agree. In a democracy, the best thing to do is respond with a better answer.

From Muslims in America, a novel protest against quran burning
Courtesy: Times of IndiaWASHINGTON: In an effort to overturn the image of Muslims as fire-breathing, sword-slashing conquerors and avengers, a Muslim group in America will resort to a pacific response to the provocative burning of the Quran by a fundamentalist Christian evangelist.
Pastor Terry Jones, the notorious Christian extremist who riled Muslims across the world with his inflammatory burning of the quran in 2011, has upped the ante by threatening to burn 3000 copies of the Quran on September 11, the anniversary of the terrorist attack on America that killed nearly 3,000 people. But instead of getting provoked, the so-called " World Muslim Congress" in the US said it will "reclaim the standard of behavior practiced by the prophet concerning scurrilous and hostile criticism of the Quran."
It cited a quranic verse that says, "To overcome evil with good is good, and to resist evil by evil is evil," and said it is also strongly enjoined in the Quran in the same verse 41:34 that "Good and evil deeds are not equal. Repel evil with what is better; then you will see that one who was once your enemy has become your dearest friend."
The Texas-based outfit said many Muslim organizations across America will go on a "blood drive" to save lives and serve humanity with kindness on the same day pastor Jones has said he will burn the copes of the Quran.
"As Muslims and citizens we honor the free speech guaranteed in our constitution. We have no intentions to criticize, condemn or oppose pastor Terry Jones' freedom of expression. Instead, we will be donating blood and praying for goodness to permeate in our society," said Mike Ghouse, an Indian-American Muslim community leader who has been promoting inter-faith harmony in the US for several years.
Ghouse said the organization hoped that the blood drive event and the message will remind Muslims elsewhere in the world that violence is not the way. "Muslims, who react violently to senseless provocation, should realize that, violence causes more violence, and besmirches the name of the religion that we hold so dear. We believe that Prophet Muhammad was a mercy to the mankind, and we ought to practice what we believe and preach. We must not insult Islam by the negative reactions of a few," a statement from the organization said.
Jones's Quran burning capers have caused universal revulsion, including in the United States, and also led to sporadic episodes of reactive violence in some countries. US government officials, from the federal, state, and local levels, have repeatedly condemned his antics.
"It's regrettable that a pastor in Gainesville, Florida with a church of no more than fifty people can make this outrageous and distressful, disgraceful plan and get, you know, the world's attention," former US secretary of state Hillary Clinton said when Jones first announced his provocative move in 2010.
But Jones has kept at it despite universal condemnation, including promoting a movie called the "Innocence of Muslims" that vilified Islam and conjuring up September 11 as "International Judge Muhammed Day." Pakistan ambassador breaks new ground celebrating Diwali with Indians in Beijing
May this trend continue everywhere.
This highlights a major factor in nation(s) building - you take on step forward to nurture goodwill, the other is bound to take a similar step, don't drop if the other does not match... keep doing, some day he or she will.
Honestly, all the Ambassadors can take that initiative and give birth to a new colossal energy. I happen to watch Sahar Show, a poor Pakistani show, unlike many a great shows that I have been watching recently with Yasmeen. I do not watch TV... except a few shows with her. Last evening he was singing Indian Songs as a part of the entertainment, it was very normal for the audience and him... no condescending attitudes but plain normal attitude. .. when you and I, the individuals drop the small barriers and act, merely act as people of goodwill and good faith and not let pettiness come in our way... we can change things.

The fodder for the politicians is hate and anti-India or anti-Pakistan propaganda, because there are a few chamchas who clap for their heroism, as if the idiots fill their belly with it. As the general population we need to be free from ill-will, let the politicians feed of that...
Some 10 years ago, I was in India consular office in Houston with my late wife's passport. Consular General Wangdi gave tremendous respect and had me and Najma sit in his office and got her passport stamped for multiple visits. The assistant who worked on the passport had stories to tell... great stories of how a Pakistani taxi driver took him in the middle of the night to a hospital with his sick daughter and did not charge him..these Ambassadors can count many great stories on both sides... It is time for them to take initiatives and change.. the upper layers will possibly see the goodness. The visionary Moraji Desai saw that and others can see it too.
For those petty fellow Indians, I have had a chance to marry a Mexican girl, an Algerian Girl and a Chinese girl after Najma... fortunately I met this Pakistani Girl whom I married and who is a blessing in my life. A handful of Indians in my town have a problem - may be 9 out of 80,000 Indians and there are six Pakistanis of the 20,000 some Pakistanis who are hateful towards India and me. Are they significant?
Next time one spills hate for India or Pakistan, be blunt and ask them - does this feed your family? Does this make your heart purer? If it is an older man, ask them, if he is ever going to flush out the sewer from his heart? BEIJING: India-Pakistan relations sparkled for a while as Pakistani ambassador Masood Khan and his wife, Zohra, took the rare step of participating in Diwali celebrations at the Indian embassy premises here Saturday evening. Khan also waved at artists performing on the stage and the assembled Indians as a gesture of bonhomie.
The move comes soon after Indian ambassador S Jaishankar visited the Pakistani embassy to pay his condolences over the recent demise of Begum Nusrat Bhutto, the wife and mother of two different prime ministers of Pakistan and the mother-in-law of Asif Ali Zardari, the present one.
The Khans stayed for close to two hours and joined Indian ambassador S.Jaishankar for dinner along with Sultan Ahmad Baheri, the ambassador of Afghanistan and Sun Weidong, deputy director general of the department of Asian affairs in the Chinese ministry of foreign affairs. The event took on a diplomatic hue as this is the first time in many years that a Pakistani ambassador has visited the Indian occasion on a festive occasion.
The event attended by Indians living in Beijing included a Bharat Natyam performance by Chinese dancer Jin Shanshan and display of fire crackers, which is usually not allowed outside the embassy premises in Beijing.
