Moderate Muslims speak out

Since 9/11, talk show hosts, journalists, lawmakers, interfaith authorities and thought leaders have asked: “Who are the authentic moderates of Islam?” Where are moderate Muslims to join the debate on social, civic, religious and political issues, including racism and violent extremism? And, “Who speaks for American Muslims?”

Steve Blow of Dallas Morning News wrote, "Over and over you hear it said: If Muslims oppose terrorism, why don't they stand up and say it? If that has been you, Mike Ghouse ought to be your hero."

Muslims are sick of the terrorists, ISIS, Al-Qaeda, Boko Haram and their ilk committing evil acts and conveniently passing the buck to their religion, and Muslims are neither happy with those few gullible Americans who are too eager to buy the poor excuses of these gangs. Instead of punishing these criminals, they are hell bent on finding faults with the religion.

In behalf of American Muslim Institution a rally was organized on the steps of Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC, on Friday, November 20, 2015. The symbolic location was chosen to mirror the effort of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., who brought a positive change to the American civil Society with his famous, “I have a dream” speech. Dr. Ghouse believes that this effort has seeded the momentum for yet another positive change; acceptance of Muslims as equals with the process of integration.

A reporter asked what would be achieved by condemning or demonstrating here at Lincoln Memorial. Dr. Ghouse responded, “Evil exists because good people do nothing about it, we the good people are doing something about it; we are condemning the evil acts of ISIS, and sending them a clear message that the world condemns their act and that they have no place among the civil societies unless they surrender and give up terrorism, violence and extremism.

At the National Press Club, Dr. Ben Carson was asked if he verifies the information he relays about Muslims and Islam. The lack of response led Dr. Ghouse to offer advice and guidance to him, and if he considers the advice, he will save himself a lot of regrets and time on doubling down on the false information, and if he were smart, he can earn at least 3 Million Muslim votes.

US Muslim group launched to reflect ‘moderate’ Islam - Amusing Media Report

Here is one of the many reports in the media, and this one is little amusing.

The report mentions that we served alcohol, and before our Muslim friends worry about this, we immediately wrote our first comment on 17th evening, and it still shows as pending posting, which I can see, but not the public. Our response was, “Dear Drew, we appreciate your report, and as fellow Americans we need all the help and support we can get, to allow moderate Muslim voices to be heard. However, I would like to make a small correction, there were no alcohol or pork products served.”

We appreciate the excitement of Mr. Drew Parker to find "Moderate Muslims" and say Eureka! Indeed we are Moderate Muslims, and an overwhelming majority of Muslims are moderates by nature and by faith. Meaning we want to get along with every one, and live our lives and let others live theirs, we are contributors to the peace, prosperity, safety and security of fellow Americans with all our heart mind and soul. America is our home, and enriching it is our dream and our efforts. When we are visiting other nations, the only thing we brag about is America and its freedom besides the achievements and contribution of our kids towards her well being. .

US Muslim group launched to reflect ‘moderate’ Islam

– American Muslim Institution seeks to change perceptions of Islam, Muslims by advocating a “more secular” Islam

WASHINGTON – A new American Muslim group said Thursday that it wants to change Americans’ perceptions of Islam and Muslims by “proactively engaging” to reflect a “moderate version” of Islam.

Part of that moderate version was on display during the group’s launch at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., where the American Muslim Institution created a decidedly secular environment where some female members gave up their head coverings, and an open buffet complete with available alcoholic drinks.

The group of thinkers and activists will follow an unconventional path for Muslims as they reach out to American political leaders in advocating a “more secular” Islam to fight discrimination against the Muslims.

Executive Director Mike Ghouse, said the organization’s efforts would be directed “towards justice and equality to attain peace for Americans with a firm grounding in commonly held values”.

Ghouse would like to work with other groups in the U.S. to “make America a better and safer place for each”, and he said he believes Islamic and American values are compatible and founded on common principles.

In order to find solutions to current and emerging problems that stems from misperceptions and misinformation about Islam and Muslims, organization president Islam Siddiqui said American Muslims need to speak up.

Muslims should tell U.S. decision makers, especially through the use of media, that the negative portrayal of Islam that is currently being put forward is not Islam, said Siddiqui.

Islamophobia and a false perception of Muslims and their faith has been a highly charged issue throughout the U.S. since the 9/11 terror attacks.

Earlier this week, 14-year-old Ahmed Mohamed was arrested after a teacher said she mistook his homemade clock for a bomb.

On August 20, 2015 - President Jimmy Carter announced that his cancer has spread to his brain and doctors in Atlanta found four "very small spots" of melanoma. Carter, who turns 91 in October, started receiving radiation yesterday.

Carter is one of the presidents who remained active with the American people building homes for the poor through the Habitat for Humanity. He was instrumental in eradication of debilitating diseases in Africa like the guinea worm. The President traveled around the world monitoring democratic process taking roots, and watching the genuine voting process.

He is the most gracious man; he kept smiling and dedicated his life for humanity. May God bless him a long life, and let the humanity benefit from his good work.

ATLANTA (Reuters) After announcing that cancer had spread to his brain, former President Jimmy Carter had to teach an extra Bible class at his rural Georgia church on Sunday (Aug. 23) to accommodate well wishers.

Carter, 90, a lifelong Baptist and church deacon, has taught Sunday school for decades, and the Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains, Georgia, is used to a throng.

The church’s website asks people to line up before 9 a.m., and attend an orientation before the 10 a.m. class.

The theme of the lesson was love, Carter told the 300 people who filled the church’s sanctuary, after briefly alluding to his health.

“We are studying the most important aspect of Christianity,” he said, and read from the Sermon on the Mount in the Book of Matthew: “I say to you love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”

He mentioned his conflict resolution work, including the Camp David peace agreement and negotiating a nuclear program with North Korea, and said mediation can help resolve any conflict, be it between two countries or two people.

A smiling, comfortable-looking Carter, in a dark jacket and a bolo tie, spoke from the floor at the front of the room.

Carter taught a second Bible class before returning to the church sanctuary to pose for photos with people for more than a half an hour.

Pictures on the Atlanta Journal Constitution and on social media showed dozens of people lining up outside the church in the rural town of Plains, where Carter lives with his wife Rosalynn. One held a fan with Carter’s photograph on it.

The first person lined up at midnight, local television reported.

Due to the security detail for the former president, everyone was searched going into the church.

Carter began radiation treatment for his cancer on Thursday (Aug. 20), a week after announcing he had undergone surgery to remove a tumor from his liver.

Carter served as president from 1977 to 1981 and became active in humanitarian causes and monitoring elections after leaving office. He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002.

Dallas, Texas – September 22, 2013. Muslims condemn the attack on the Mall in Nairobi killing innocent people with a call for action to wipe these criminals off the face of the world.

Boston Globe reports; Massacre at Nairobi Mall, " Islamist militants ambushed a shopping mall in Nairobi, Kenya, on Saturday killing more than 50 people and terrorizing the city. The siege was still taking place on Monday, as Kenyan forces tried to drive the militants out of the Westgate mall and save remaining hostages. Somalia's Al Shabab claimed responsibility for the deadliest attack in Kenya since 1998. -Leanne Burden Seidel"

"Shamefully those criminals called themselves Muslims and claimed to do it for Islam. Did Muslims authorize them? Did Islam Authorize them? Hell no. They are dirty criminals and we need to get them and punish them." Islam forbids killing another human, unless it is purely in self-defense, and it even forbids suicide, which amounts to betrayal of trust God placed in you.

We the people of the World have been giving a pass to these criminals by blaming Islam, rather than blaming the criminals. Its time we do the right thing and knock these guys out, hunt them, find them and lock them up, unless they surrender and seek to change.

There is absolutely no justification for killing another human being, none whatsoever.

The hallmark of civil societies is that every resident of the society lives in peace with others. No one needs to live in apprehension or fear of the other, we are all God’s creation and God cares for us to take care of each other.

Press Release: Muslims Condemn Terrorist attack on Church in Peshawar killing 78 Christians

Dallas, Texas – September 22, 2013. Muslims unequivocally condemn the attack on the historic Christian Church in Peshawar, Pakistan killing 78 worshippers. This does not bode well for Pakistan.

It’s time to quit blaming Islam or Muslims, and instead hold the individuals and their affiliates responsible for this brutal massacre. Islam did not authorize these criminals to kill any one, and Muslims certainly did not give them the permission to do so.

We the people of the World have been giving a pass to these criminals by blaming Islam, rather than blaming the criminals. Its time we do the right thing.

We urge the Peshawar Police and the Governments of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Pakistan to grab the criminals and put them on trial. No one but these agencies is responsible for law and order.

The hallmark of civil societies is that every resident of the society lives in peace with others. No one needs to live in apprehension or fear of the other, we are all God’s creation and God cares for us to take care of each other.
