Obama's opportunity in Charm City

Doug Burton wrote this piece at the Philo's project. The writings in the blog are all mine, except when some one write about me, it will be included here.  I don't have to agree with Mr. Burton, but he has quoted me and I agree with some of the material.

Obama's opportunity in Charm City

Doug Burton

The president’s upcoming visit to the Islamic Society of Baltimore will give him the opportunity to tell us all to take a breath before sounding the alarm about new waves of non-vetted Muslim masses crashing our gates. Expect a legacy statement to showcase American religious freedom, tolerance, pluralism and inclusiveness to audiences overseas.
Hopefully this visit will be more than a photo-op guaranteed to underscore the politically correct myth that Islamism isn’t Islam and that the religion of Islam has no causal link to terrorism. Americans know this plank is a nonsequiter: the Obama Administration says that no terrorists are Muslims, whereas virtually all Jihadi terrorists say they are Muslims.
Perhaps conservatives can give Muslim believers a break here. True, many American imams will not acknowledge that the Islamic State, Al-Qaeda or any form of violent Jihadism is Islam. But anguish could be hear in one imam’s voice as he spoke up during an interview to say, “Let me stop you right there. ISIS has nothing to do with Islam, which is a religion of peace – only peace. That’s like saying the crusaders who raped, murdered or tortured Muslims for centuries were really Christians.” While his constraint on language is his hapless dilemma, it reminds us that in the hearts of the vast majority of devout practitioners, Islam is a divine encounter, leading to a higher plane of compassion, self-transformation, lawfulness and justice.
More importantly, on Feb. 3, President Barack Obama has an opportunity to educate Americans about the great potential of American Muslims in the war of ideas within the Islamic world. As many an analyst has pointed out, Islam as a civilization has had neither a renaissance nor enlightenment, and is due. Fundamentalist Islam rooted in the Arabian Peninsula is actually at war with modernity. We aren’t dealing with “a clash of civilizations” as much as a crisis within one civilization – Islam.
American Muslims could make a big difference because they are different. The fact is, Islam has contextualized in North America’s democratic environment. Just as Christianity adapted to new cultures and ethical traditions as it moved from ancient Israel to Greece, to Rome to the heart of German Europe, and finally to North America, so has Islam.
The Muslims who murdered their colleagues in San Bernardino were in America, but notof it. American Muslims are inured to modernity: well educated and rooted in America. By one count, 5 percent of America’s doctors are Muslims, and many have served in the armed forces. Muslims are voters and public servants. At least two American Muslims serve in Congress. A week after the Paris attacks, the American Muslim Institution held an anti-ISIS protest on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. After the San Bernardino massacre, several Islamic societies held a candlelight vigil and memorial service at the Islamic Center of Silver Springs.
American Muslims who are passionate about Islam flourishing under the protection of a secular government have champions such as Dr. M. Zuhdi Jasser M.D., the founder and president of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy and the author of “A Battle for the Soul of Islam: An American Muslim Patriot’s Fight to Save His Faith.” Jasser currently serves as a commissioner on the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom.
As Dr. Michael Ghouse, executive director of American Muslim Institution, said, “America is unquestionably the land of the free and the brave. The American Muslims love it, and once here, have unmoored Islam from its cultural chains. Yet American Muslims have retained the true spirit of Islam; a beautiful system devised to restore sanity and common sense in a given society through simple basics like being truthful, trustworthy, standing up for justice, humility and kindness as their life style.”
Dr. Walid Phares, an advisor to members of Congress and the author of “The War of Ideas,” said, “The problem in President Obama’s approach to diffuse the so-called Islamophobia is that his administration marginalizes the groups within the Muslim community that promote liberal views and anti-jihadi activities, while the more Islamist factions close to the Muslim Brotherhood have been elevated by the White House to the status of sole representatives of the community.
“Like any other community, the Muslim American community is not monolithic,” Phares argued. “American Muslims include the more fundamentalist and the more secular. To fight the ideology of the Jihadi terrorists, you need NGOs who would respond to the latter’s ideology not cover up for it.”
He went on to point out that, as seen in both Egypt and Tunisia, for example, the silent majority is strongly opposed to the Islamists. “But the advisors of the Obama Administration may have convinced the president of the opposite. Hence the repetitive failures of Washington in the campaign against the extremists. For the Islamists won’t challenge the jihadists – only secular Muslims will. Obama should have asked Zuhdi Jasser and his reformers to walk with him to that mosque. That would have created balance and neutralized Islamophobia among Americans.”
Muslim American patriots will be sitting in the pews Wednesday, yet it’s not clear yet if a president looking for opportunity will see America’s best assets looking back at him.

Final Presidential debate in Boca Raton

Romney did not lose the debate, but Obama gained the points with independent voters.

I watched the debate at Angelica Theater in Dallas and it was hilarious, as the public was making comments while booing cheering and jeering, it was a lively debate. The first big laugh came when Romney said he believed in gender equality, rights for women overseas...

Every one of the debate was a shocker, Obama slept through the first one and in the 2nd and final one, Romney was going through different avatars of the chameleon, he took new positions today. Romney really did not have anything new to add, except agreeing with the president.

Obama used some of the words and concepts, I have written in my foreign policy article at Huffington post today, glad it was published before he spoke. It’s happened many times before, he nearly speaks in similar tones as I do, the reason I say that is I pre-empt his speeches.

Please do read my piece on foreign policy at Huffington post, “The choice between Chaotic Romney and Stable Obama.” http://www.huffingtonpost.com/mike-ghouse/chaotic-romney-and-stable-obama_b_1998900.html

I wish Obama had said this, “Governor Romney, I am glad you support my foreign policy, thank you, you don’t need to run, I will continue with the good policies that you have been so generous to endorse.”

Foreign Policy debate tonight - Huffngton post

Huffington post will be publishing a piece on foreign policy today, "Foreign policy debate tonight: The choice between Chaotic Romney and Stable Obama administration."

The full article will be at http://www.huffingtonpost.com/mike-ghouse and a few abstracts at www.TheGhouseDiary.com

Obama has set in motion the process of stabilizing the economy, and we are cruising through it towards restoring America, we are on the right trajectory.
Romney on the other hand is inclined to upset everything and will take us back to the Bush era on his first day in the office, if he were elected. Why on the earth would we want to choose Chaos over Stability?

"No one significant has cried about the death of Bin Laden or Awalaki. Had President Bush followed Obama policy of getting the wrong guy, instead of his religion and his country, we would not have seen the devastation in our own country, let alone others."

"Had Obama pandered to Netanyahu and the front runners in the Republican primaries, the newly elected government in Egypt would have flagrantly rejected the peace treaty. "

"Obama has given more aid to Israel than any other president; he is for Israel’s security without pandering to Netanyahu and his right wing bullies, and clearly retaining full Jewish American support.."

"Romney’s loyalty is to Netanyahu (not Israel), and he will threaten to go to war with Iran. When you give an opportunity to an irresponsible urchin, he will threaten every one without any idea about the consequences."

"Romney has not matured in his convictions" - Romney also has two different views, a private view that he shares with the ones who give him money, and the public view that gives the appearance of inclusiveness."

Now if we the Republicans wake up to save the nation from Chaos and move even two points towards Obama and give him 53% and dish out the 47% to Romney (LOL), we will save the nation.

On Wednesday, Sean Hannity and I will be dissecting the foreign policy debate on the nationally syndicated Radio and probably on the Hannity Show details at: http://www.hannity.com/guest/ghouse-mike/10804

How Should We Respond?
In the wake of recent attacks to U.S. Officials in Libya, Sean spent some time this week talking about how we should respond. Sean sat down with Mike Ghouse and Brigitte Gabriel to talk about the ways the United States can respond. “They do not deserve our money,” an angry Gabriel offered, “They do not deserve our money and they do not deserve our support and it’s time for our president to stand up to a bunch of thugs who are attacking us like this.”

Ghouse took a slightly more forgiving stance saying, “I condemn what has happened in Libya, killing our ambassador is not acceptable, if you look at our own democracy though, it took many years to stabilize the democracy but it is in their blood right now.” Sean spent some time this afternoon on Twitter, flushing out details with Dana Perino about a potentially great new plan for the United States.

He wrote, Good Idea @DanaPerino - Sending the occupiers to go “talk” and “reason with the anti-American protesters in Egypt, Libya, etc. In all seriousness though, we should be looking to our leaders in Washington for answers and a plan, something that doesn't seem to be coming very quickly.

Special Guests: Michael Ghouse, Brigitte Gabriel

This is a rush transcript from "Hannity," September 12, 2012. This copy may not be in its final form and may be updated.

SEAN HANNITY, HOST: I think what is important to look at is that the dramatic footage not only demonstrates that radicalism is still prevalent in the Middle East, but it exposes a clear and present danger to Americans both here and abroad.

In other words, the war on terror is ongoing.
Look at these live pictures. They are out of Cairo. Thousands of protesters are hitting the streets.
Let me bring in Middle East experts Michael Ghouse and Brigitte Gabriel. You know, Michael, all throughout our argument that we have had as the Arab spring was unfolding, you told me over and over again that things were going to work out and democracy was going to emerge. I told you that the Muslim Brotherhood was going to take over. They first got parliament and they said Israel is their number one enemy.
Will you now agree with me that I was right and you were wrong on this particular issue?

MIKE GHOUSE, AMERICAN TOGETHER FOUNDATION: Brother Sean, as somebody called you today. I will agree with you on that particular, specific issue, but I don't agree with other things. First of all, I want to extend my prayers for the bereaved families and condemn what has happened in Libya, killing our ambassador is not acceptable --

HANNITY: You told me the Muslim Brotherhood would be moderated by the military. That's not true, Michael.

GHOUSE: Sean, if you look at our own democracy, it took many years to stabilize the democracy. It will tame take some time. It is sad, it's happening, but let's give them some time, Sean. Democracy is in their blood right now --

HANNITY: Give them some time as they rip down our flag and the radicals take over and put up an Al Qaeda flag. Michael wants me to give them some time.
GHOUSE: No, Sean, let me -- Romney was wrong --

BRIGITTE GABRIEL, ACT FOR AMERICA PRESIDENT: We are not going to waste any more time! We are casting our pearls at the feet of swine at this time. They do not deserve our money. They do not deserve our support. It's about time our president stands up as a man and stands up to a bunch of thugs destroying our reputation and attacking us like this! This is the home of the brave, not the land of cowards. And we need a president who is a brave man to stand up against our enemy and stop squandering our money on people who don't deserve it!

We gave them enough time. Now it's time to act. I urge everyone watching this interview to go to actforamerica.org and get involved in taking back our nation and putting America's head back up high and speaking as the land of the brave! It's about time to act.

HANNITY: Brigitte, maybe the president should have showed up at a few of his intelligence -- daily intelligence briefings, which liberals made such a big deal about when George Bush was in the White House, which George Bush actually attended on a daily basis.

Maybe -- he can identify them as radical Islamists, which they are. That seems to be missing in Fort Hood -- that's the common theme this. This president will not say the word radical terrorist. He will not say war on terror. It seems to me that is pathetically weak.

GABRIEL: Sean, it is pathetically weak. Sean, we found out the Egyptian intelligence knew September 4 that there will be attacks against the United States Embassy. If the Egyptian intelligence knew that, how come our president did not know it? Did he miss the briefing when they informed him about the embassy going to be attacked?

This is not news. This is not new. We knew the embassies are going to be attacked. How come our government is putting our people's lives in danger, overseas in a country where we know they are not protecting our people?
This is why it's the job of the president and the job of the people to hold him accountable to say that we are facing an enemy that is radical Islamist and the flag they raised up is not an Al Qaeda flag. It's an Islamic flag that was invented in the 800s, the most authentic symbol of Islam that only Al Qaeda and the radical Islamist are now bringing back and reviving to attack the western United States.

HANNITY: All right, I appreciate you both being with us. I wish I was wrong when the Arab Spring was happening. We've predicted the Muslim Brotherhood would be in charge. We predicted a lot of this would happen. Most of the mainstream media, the president, they all ignored what was obvious to those of us who had eyes to see.

Israel Iran crisis is Netanyahu Ahmedinejad issue

I came across this cartoon today and felt it is very descriptive of the situation in the Israel-Iran conflict.  Leaders are the real problem and not the public.  Instead of finding solutions, they talk about bombing. If we can zip up the mouths of Ahmedinejad and Netanyahu, most problems will fade away.

Prime Minister Netanyahu genuinely wants peace for his people, but he does everything opposite of the goal, so is Ahmedinejad, wants the best for his people, but his foul mouth messes up everything.

Both men need to learn about setting a goal, and achieving it with least damage. Their methodology has not worked. Netanyahu’s ideas will not bring security to the people of Israel, the kind of security where the Israelis can be free from apprehension, and can drop their guards and enjoy the life.  Do these men know that, they are the problem?

The radical politicians like Santorum and Gingrich, among several others are a major problem. From one mouth they talk about security of Israel, but from the other they do everything to make it worse for Israel. Men like Horowitz, Spencer and whole lot of them are bent on making it all worse for Israel and other nations. It is not Israel they care about; it is the gain they can have in the name of Israel. Remember Madoff?

The Jewish people and the Israelis need to be aware of them, they don’t need duplicity, they need genuine peace makers who have brought security to Israel and through that the region. Men like President Carter and President Clinton who had the foresight to see and deliver peace to the peoples, and I hope Obama will have the balls to stand up to Netanyahu, do the right thing and leave a legacy of goodness to the people of Palestine and Israel.

Instead of finding solutions, they talk about bombing. These two will destroy Israel and Iran and more than that, they will mess up American for another decade if they have their way and weaken America in fighting their wars that are not necessary.

As Americans, we need to know that the Israelis are speaking up, which we don’t see on our Television networks, but they show it on the Israeli and European media. This needs to change and we need BBC, Israeli TV and Al Jazeera for Americans to have another perspective. How many Politicians and ordinary citizens among us are capable of giving another perspective to the issue? We are too brainwashed to even know that there is another point of view.

Should we give currency to the rhetoric of Netanyahu and Ahmedinejad, or should the public demand them to perform in bringing peace? Should the silent majority encourage wrong doing by their silence or should they speak up and take charge of their long term security.
