Mike Ghouse Speaks about Building a Cohesive America at the Dallas Parks Rotary Club
Dallas
- Dallas Parks Rotary Club members were intrigued by hearing Mike Ghouse deliver their
message at Monica's Aca y Alla in downtown Dallas last evening. The small crowd was enthusiastic about what
Mr. Ghouse had to say and stayed after the meeting asking questions.
President
Wilson’s thoughts went off to the ‘60s when he served as a police officer. He commented that he thought we had made a
lot of progress from the harsh treatment of blacks and gays back then. Mr. Wilson is happy to see that change but
says we have a way to go toward equal treatment.
The Dallas Parks Rotary Club, formerly Fair
Park Rotary Club, is one of the oldest clubs in Dallas and was chartered in
1950. Doug Rudman states “a highly
successful and dedicated group. It strives to contribute both funds and
manpower to all avenues of service”.
Mike’s
passion for teaching everyone about respecting the otherness of the other, and
accepting the God given uniqueness of each one of the 312 million of us is
reflected in the 501(c)(3) he has founded, America Together Foundation.
His
reason for creating America Together Foundation meets the Rotary’s Four-Way
test: 1. Is it the TRUTH?, 2. Is it FAIR
to all concerned?, 3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?, and 4.
Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?.
Mr.
Ghouse’s message about the need for building a cohesive America also fits
perfectly into the Rotary International theme for 2011-2012,
“Reach Within to Embrace Humanity.” Embracing
diversity where no American has to live in discomfort, anxiety or fear of the
other is the foundation of building a cohesive America.
Rotary
is an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide that
provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all
vocations, and helps build goodwill and peace in the world begun in1905.
Mr.
Ghouse concluded, “I have a dream, a dream to see a cohesive America where we
focus on safety and prosperity of every American. Indeed, prosperity is pluralistic in nature;
you cannot have it, unless others around you have it. You cannot be safe unless others around you
are safe. As an Indian - Muslim - Indian American, I am committed to
contribute towards the safety and prosperity of America.”
