Netanyahu responsible for rise in Anti-Semitism

Published at: http://foundationforpluralism.blogspot.com/2015/03/netanyahu-responsible-for-rise-in-anti.html

I severely condemn rise in Anti-Semitism and hold Netanyahu directly responsible for it. I challenge the Israelis to reverse the rogue policies of Netanyahu and see a dramatic fall in Anti-Semitism.

This is a serious matter and unless the moderate Jews wake up and save Israel, Netanyahu will ruin it and Isolate Israel from every one. The young American Jews see that, and one day they will wake up and say enough is enough. Netanyahu is not a peace maker.

I am for security of Israel and justice for the Palestinians, one will not happen without the other. More about it at www.Israelpalestinedialogue.com, The Muslim Holocaust guy , www.HolocaustandGenocides.com, and Standing up for Jews

The latest United Nations resolution called for stopping the settlements - that is a vote of 161 Nations out of 166, only 5 nations voted against it including Israel and us.  Don't you think it is a slap in the faces of 161 nations? Do they have reason to be pissed off at Netanyahu for the violations, and us for letting him get away with it? This is just one item, there are a lot more violations.

Alon Ben-Meir in an article, "A message to Netanyahu, enough is enough" writes, "This delusionary claim is an insult to European governments and the nearly 1.5 million Jews who live, work, and flourish in Europe. The irony is that Netanyahu represents neither the Jews around the world nor even the majority of Israeli Jews, other than the fraction who voted for Likud in the previous election. "

and, "he brought Israel’s indispensable relations with the US to a state of crisis, infuriated European leaders, embarrassed Jews everywhere, and further isolated Israel."

No people should be victims of others' prejudices and hate. It is not acceptable in civilized societies. It took a healthy  dip after the Holocaust and is going back up again in the last seven years, and here are the reasons that many deny, but how long we keep blaming others, instead of looking at the causes.

The few and the powerful right wing Jews and Muslims are too eager to scream Anti-Semitism and Islamophobia even if you sneeze,  instead of seeing the reality and fixing the causes that cause some of these stinky attitudes.

Anti-Semitism spreading across Europe, says study

Latest update : 2015-02-28

Jews were the target of harassment in more countries across the globe in 2013 than at any time in past seven years, a study released Friday showed, with hostility towards the religious group higher in Europe than any other world region.

The report by the US-based Pew Research Center combined the results of two separate indexes – one measuring government actions that curb religious beliefs and practices and another measuring acts of social religious hostility by private individuals or organisations.
It found that harassment and hostility against Jews, either by the government or members of the public, were recorded in 77 of 198 countries surveyed in 2013, up from 71 in 2012 and the highest number since Pew first began recording figures in 2007.
It was in Europe, however, that levels of social harassment were most alarming. The study found that Jews faced this type of harassment in 34 of the continent’s 45 countries (76 percent) – a higher share than in any other region and against a global average of 25 percent.
“In France, three men attacked a teenager who was wearing a kippah in Vitry-Sur-Seine in March, threatening, ‘We will kill all of you Jews’,” said the report. “In Spain, vandals painted a large swastika on the walls of a bull ring in the city of Pinto in August, along with the words “Hitler was right.”
“And in Norway, the newspaper Dagbladet published a controversial cartoon in May that appeared to be mocking the practice of circumcision.”
The report comes at a time when fears over growing anti-Semitism are causing concerns across Europe.
France in particular has faced a worrying rise in anti-Jewish acts in recent months, with a deadly January 9 attack on a Paris kosher supermarket, just days after Islamic extremists shot dead 12 people at the French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo, further fuelling religious tensions.
A rise in anti-Semitism as been cited as one of the reasons for 7,000 Jews leaving France for Israel in 2014, according to Israeli government figures, twice as many as in the previous year.
Christians and Muslims face most harassment
The situation for Muslims in Europe was not much better, the study found, with harassment recorded in 32 countries, or 71 percent – again much higher than the global average of 34 percent.
The report cited examples such as bloody pigs’ heads being placed at a site of a planned mosque in Germany and threatening letters sent to several mosques and Muslim cultural centres in Ireland.
When all religions were taken into account, two-thirds of European countries saw instances of harassment by organised groups. In a case in Italy, for example, four men were sent to prison after they published lists of Jewish residents and businesses on neo-Nazi websites.
And in four out of ten European countries, there were reported incidents of individuals being assaulted or forced from their homes or places of worship in retaliation for religious activities.
In Poland, arsonists set fire to the door of a mosque in Gdansk, while in Greece several Jehovah’s Witnesses’ houses of worship and mosques were set ablaze in multiple cities throughout the year.
The Pew report combined the results of two separate indexes – one measuring government actions that curb religious beliefs and practices and another measuring acts of social religious hostility by private individuals or organisations.
It found that overall restrictions on religion, whether social of governmental, were high or very high in 39 percent of countries, down from 43 percent the year before.
Christians and Muslims, the worlds’ two largest religions making up more than half of the global population, faced harassment in the highest number of countries, at 52 percent and 50 percent respectively.
Among the world’s 25 most populous countries, the highest overall levels of restrictions were found in Burma, Egypt, Indonesia, Pakistan and Russia.
China had the highest level of government restrictions of 25 most populous countries in 2013, while India had the highest level of social hostilities.

Prime Minister Modi's speech on 68th Independence day.

The following piece has two parts, first part is PM's speech on independence day with notes laden with key phrases he used, it was an excellent speech given the exclusive background he is raised with, indeed, he has come a long ways.

The 2nd part shows his lack of inclusivism in his speech - he was raised in an irresponsible exclusivist education system that does not promote cohesiveness. Modi and several Indians are a product of that system, Hindus and Muslims alike. We cannot blame them, but we have to work on changing the system, all of us are responsible. Like he said in his speech to ask ourselves, what am I doing to contribute towards the well being of India? Here is my contribution.

NARENDRA MODI SPEECH ON AUGUST 15
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=o1cxHe9TeD8

It was a good speech - a comprehensive speech covering most aspects of the nation building.  It is good to hear good Hindi.  The notes were made as I was listening, and this has become a habit of mine to make notes of key words and phrases.  I have not done the grammar or spell check… oddly Modi caught himself with little grammar mistake around 24:15, nice touch, otherwise his language is perfect.

04:50 Mentions a variety of contributors by titles
17:11 mera kya, mujhe kya ( I have been writing about this mantra )

23:22 Hum ne kya paya -10 years moratorium on communal riots
24:15 Female Infanticide - beton ki aas may betiyon ko bali mat chadayein
Grammar mistake - budha maa baap, but corrects himself to budhay maa baap

32:00 Youth employment and steel manufacturing
34:00 Global thinking
35:00 Emphasized on made in India

03:35 challenged to work - pradhan sevak
05:22 Jai Hind

Modi could have done much better. May be it is in not his blood to be inclusive in his language. At the very beginning, when he recited the contributions of a variety of things to the nation, he could have included Sufis contribution along with rishis and munis. Then around 60th Minute he recites Gandhi and Sardar, but does not mention Nehru, because of whom we have a firm and solid democracy, and he does not mention Maualana Azad who lay the foundation for IIT's that shines India. He does mention Shastri and JP, but fails to mention the space program particularly during digitizing India talk, and he forgets Vinoba Bhave’s bhoodan movement during the Kisan segment.

I hope he gets a better speech writer next time, who can paint a fuller image of India and not an adhoori tasveer.

Towards the end when he was saying our nation is the nation of youth, the following song was on my mind… and had to listen to it before I go to sleep at about 2:45 AM

A desh hai veer jawanon ka

ADDED

Kailas,

Good to hear your wise words, indeed, it was a good speech. Yes, the overall speech was inspiring and uplifting, its more like the state of the union speech. I have a greater interest in India than most Indians living outside India.

What do I want? Nothing but goodness for my country. I may be out of India, but as the saying goes, India will never go out of me. Whatever I write, speak, think or do, it is with the idea that every Indian should enjoy his freedom to eat, drink, wear and believe whatever the hell he or she wants to. I spend an inordinate amount of time on India - this forum Dallas Indians is around for 11 years now, it takes time to keep it, my website http://mikeghouseforIndia.blogspot.com has a lot of information about India... prior to that you know the work I have done. Remember this is all voluntary work and I have nothing to gain but hear rude comments now and then, and positive comments like yours, thank you.  I take them all as my Bachcahy and do not hold any grudge against any one.
Almost every other thing I write always highlights the pluralistic ethos of India in all my work be it Huffington post, Dallas Morning News, radio, tv or my speeches or wherever..

WHY?

My interest is our social fabric vis-a-vis pluralism - learning to respect the otherness of others. Shame on us, the generations after independence don't know much about each other - whether you are a Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian or the other, you know almost nothing about the other, and whatever you know is bad things. There is a flaw in our education system. My Middle school social studies Urdu book had two pages on every religion, I wish it comes back and our future generations are taught to learn about the beauty of every faith.
To understand Modi's deficiency in inclusive language, you will understand it better in one of the most read articles on my blog - Can a Muslim Indian become Prime Minister of India?http://mikeghouseforindia.blogspot.com/2012/05/can-muslim-indian-become-prime-minister.html

Many, but not all Muslims are consumed with their self-interest and focus on their dire needs, it will be a long time before a Muslim could become Prime Minister of India. There are millions of Muslims like me,  to whom, India's interests are prime, but not enough of us at this time to make the change.

Modi's un-inclusive language is not his fault, he was raised that way. He got many historical facts wrong during his campaign, and he was taught limited version of Hinduism, and not the universal aspect of it, being a Vivekananda fan myself, I am amazed at Swamiji for not expounding on the idea of Vasudhaiva Kutumbukum fully, may be he did not feel the need for it at that time. Had he done that, it would have become a template for RSS, without it, Modi's  India's history does not include any Muslim, Sikh or Christian contributions towards its richness, and as such it does not come in his language. I don't blame him for that, but being the Prime Minister of entire nation, I expect him not only to say, " I am prime Minister of every Indian" but include that in his language, he sets the tone. Our generation was molded by Jawahar Lal Nehru, thanks to him for giving the values of secularism and giving us a stable democracy. Now Modi can put a stamp of Inclusivism and Pluralism on the next generation, he lacks the foundation and some day, I will do my work.

Take a look at our own behavior - If the President issues Diwali Greetings or mentions about India or Hinduism in his speech, we gloat and praise him for his inclusiveness. Don't you think the Adivasis to Zoroastrians and everyone in between will feel buyoed by the recognition?

We have a responsibility to be inclusive, teach inclusiveness, and at the end, each one of us would live a better life and our India wins. Yes, I will continue to monitor Pope Francis, Narendra Modi and Barack Obama, three individuals who can bring a positive change to their respective populations. If we don't speak it, no one will get it.

You might cherish one of my vision of India at: http://mikeghouseforindia.blogspot.com/2014/08/happy-independence-day-india.html

Israel Iran crisis is Netanyahu Ahmedinejad issue

I came across this cartoon today and felt it is very descriptive of the situation in the Israel-Iran conflict.  Leaders are the real problem and not the public.  Instead of finding solutions, they talk about bombing. If we can zip up the mouths of Ahmedinejad and Netanyahu, most problems will fade away.

Prime Minister Netanyahu genuinely wants peace for his people, but he does everything opposite of the goal, so is Ahmedinejad, wants the best for his people, but his foul mouth messes up everything.

Both men need to learn about setting a goal, and achieving it with least damage. Their methodology has not worked. Netanyahu’s ideas will not bring security to the people of Israel, the kind of security where the Israelis can be free from apprehension, and can drop their guards and enjoy the life.  Do these men know that, they are the problem?

The radical politicians like Santorum and Gingrich, among several others are a major problem. From one mouth they talk about security of Israel, but from the other they do everything to make it worse for Israel. Men like Horowitz, Spencer and whole lot of them are bent on making it all worse for Israel and other nations. It is not Israel they care about; it is the gain they can have in the name of Israel. Remember Madoff?

The Jewish people and the Israelis need to be aware of them, they don’t need duplicity, they need genuine peace makers who have brought security to Israel and through that the region. Men like President Carter and President Clinton who had the foresight to see and deliver peace to the peoples, and I hope Obama will have the balls to stand up to Netanyahu, do the right thing and leave a legacy of goodness to the people of Palestine and Israel.

Instead of finding solutions, they talk about bombing. These two will destroy Israel and Iran and more than that, they will mess up American for another decade if they have their way and weaken America in fighting their wars that are not necessary.

As Americans, we need to know that the Israelis are speaking up, which we don’t see on our Television networks, but they show it on the Israeli and European media. This needs to change and we need BBC, Israeli TV and Al Jazeera for Americans to have another perspective. How many Politicians and ordinary citizens among us are capable of giving another perspective to the issue? We are too brainwashed to even know that there is another point of view.

Should we give currency to the rhetoric of Netanyahu and Ahmedinejad, or should the public demand them to perform in bringing peace? Should the silent majority encourage wrong doing by their silence or should they speak up and take charge of their long term security.
