Proving other's religion wrong

Religion is about faith, and about belief. All faiths are a product of the needs of a society to bring harmony to the group, and all them are successful in that.

No one needs to prove a thing to the other. If it's math, science, geology, physiology ... You can prove what is right or wrong.

What is the need? Religion is not about winning or losing, it's about humility and piety. The moment one believes his faith is better, he is out of it instantaneously, the arrogance kills the religion. Religion exists to remove arrogance.

Hannity Radio: Sean Hannity, Pamela Geller and Mike Ghouse

Nationally syndicated Radio show by Hannity
Live at 2:00 PM EST and will be relayed again at 5:00PM EST,
Monday, September 19, 2011

I will be on the Hannity Show again this evening on Fox TV at 9:30 PM EST.

The topic was Iran, but we jumped to Palestine Statehood.   Sixty three years have been squandered with no signs of peace in the Middle East.  Recognition of Palestine will put an end to the phobias and fears. The Jewish anxieties will subside when they realize for the second time in their history (first one was creation of Israel) that they are able to live a life of justice, which is a central tenet of Judaism that they had abandoned for security. It will free their psyche. It will have a dominos effect, one by one, the Arab nations will recognize Israel’s right to exist over a few years. It simply means acceptance of Israel and a welcome call to the neighborhood.

Much, rather little of my talk was based on:

2.      MR. PRESIDENT, YOU MUST VOTE FOR PALESTINE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNYmI6MlhZw

3.      YES TO PALESTINE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WA2NlDU-LM

4.      History of the conflict – 44 minutes worth watching
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WA2NlDU-LM

Pamela Geller is out to promote her new book, and hate mongering ensures sales. She does not give rat’s tail about Israel – like Madoff and others.

I have debated not going on the show, but that will give them a free ride without any one questioning it. Once, they wanted me to say words in support of Brotherhood and I am opposed to their ideology. I said, I will not do it – so what do they do? Go get that idiot Anjum Choudhary who said he will fly Islam’s flag on white house. So, I go.

Pamela Geller was attacking Palestinians and lying about them.

She said President Abbas said he will not recognize Israel – I countered that that he is the one supported by Israel and Palestine all along and represents the moderate majority.

The have been acknowledging the existence of Israel all along – when they talk with each other, they refer to them as Israelis and Palestinians.

Quoted Mother Teresa – If you want peace, talk with your enemy and not the others.  They were too quick to draw that I will not demand Palestinian to say they recognize Israel, I asked both Israel and Palestine. It is all about propaganda.

She brought up that some idiot said there will not allow Jews in Palestinian, I countered that a Rabbi has said to kill the Palestinians, and it is in Jerusalem post – neither is valid representation of either people.

She talked about Islamism taking over America – I countered that she is exaggerating it, and too much of hot air in it that needs to be released.

No will be happy about going on Fox, but I am content that a few points were made.  A few Muslim organizations do not want me to go on Fox… but they don’t go either.  I get a lot of emails from the viewers and listeners appreciating pointing to another point of view. If even 100 people see another point of view or question the veracity of Geller. I have done my job, a job no one wants to do.

Interfaith Dialogue on the Bus

http://theghousediary.blogspot.com/2011/04/interfaith-dialogue-on-bus.html
Wednesday, April 06, 2011 – 2:00 PM – 7:00 PM

A group of 10 Muslim Imams and Scholars are visiting Dallas and I was with them on the bus touring today in Fort Worth.  Here is a b
rief update:

I was with them from 2:00 PM through 1:00 AM and it was exciting to see the trends in pluralism and their (human) desire to co-exists,  and it was a delight to learn about their efforts in working that up.

If were to summarize it in a few words; I wish the media focuses on the obessision and commonality of the right wingers, be it in America or Chad, Afghanistan or Dutch, Brazil or Taiwan... they are bent on dominating and oddly they accuse the other of the same which they are guilty of.  The rise and fall of right wingers is a subject I would like the media to cover.

The 10 Imams/Scholars and people in influential position have the same issues as we do in America, the moderates are being pushed around and shamelessly they keep cushioning the abuse giving the false myth a currency,  that the right is right or the might is right. Those men and women were actually using the word Pluralism quite extensively. I am reluctant to call it a conflict between the moderate majority and the tiny weeny right wing minority, because if the majority does not have balls to stand up to do the right wingers then it is not a conflict. And ofcourse unlike the "me and me" right wingers the "we and us" moderates are not assertive enough to do the good things.

The public on the other hands funds, donates the ones who create division and pitch one against the others, like the Fox news, the right wing republicans and a host of them. When will be see the truth that our monies are doing harm to the cohesive fabric of the society?
Here was my plan and  I will update the full report later at  http://theghousediary.blogspot.com/ and http://www.worldmuslimcongress.org/ and http://www.foundationforpluralism.com/

A Carrollton tradition
By Mike Ghouse, Pluralist
# # #

Dear Friends,
The following is an inclusive prayer called the prayer of Pluralism, indeed, Carrollton is only City in the United States where inclusiveness is appreciated and this is the 9th time in the last four years. We are committed to building a cohesive Carrollton.

Let’s reflect, wish and pray:

Creator of the universe
Please accept our gratitude in every name we call upon you; Manito,  Yahweh, Elahi, Ishwar, Allah, Mahavira, Buddha, Wahe Guru, Ahura Mazda, mother earth and Jesus Christ.

In your name we want to create a cohesive Carrollton, with care kindness and dignity to every one of the 122,000 residents of this beautiful City.

Dear God,

Guide our Mayor and the council to serve us with integrity and honesty;
Guide us to serve our communities with the spirit of volunteerism;
Guide us to do the right thing every moment of our life;
Guide us to open our hearts and minds toward our fellow beings;
Guide us to shed the arrogance in us, and enrich us with humility

Guide us to become conflict mitigaters and goodwill nurturers.

Dear God,
Protect our men and women in uniforms committed to our safety and well being.

Help us learn to respect the uniqueness you have blessed to each one of the 122,000 of us in Carrollton,

And help us learn to respect everywhich way one worships you.
In your name, we bow to you.
Amen.

First Amendment, the secular and religious organizations

Dallas Morning News - http://religionblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2011/04/texas-faith-does-special-legal.html
Religious Organizations must be held to the same standards as the secular organizations in terms of employment and accountability to the public. They must be subjected to audit of the policies as well, then the questions of exceptions will dwindle and a sense of clarity will emerge. We have to rise above our own petty agendas for the overall good of America, in our case and formulate policies that treat every one justly.

The employment situation with religious organizations does bring up issues in selection of the candidates; almost all the religious and secular organizations circumvent it by narrowing the criteria. In the coming years that may be tested out if the unemployment rates become unmanageable.

We have to consider the qualifications and nature of Job but that will begin the process of splitting hair and creates more conflicts and butting into the internal affairs of a religious organization.  What happens to equal opportunity employment laws, where does it stop?

Religion is like the nuclear power which can be beneficent in the hands of the righteous ones and destructive in the other.

A few religious organizations have refused to volunteer serving food to the homeless because the facility was managed by a Gay pastor.  How far can it go? Refuse to serve people who do not believe like you do? Is it our responsibility to prevent abuse of the scriptures to fit group’s agenda?  Should the majority ideas be forced on those who differ?  We should not forget the genesis of religions be it Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Judaism or any ism, it always started as minority opinion and practices and because of their universal appeal it became a majority on a voluntary basis in their respective regions, should that makes us arrogant ?

There are some good examples as well, there is an Islamic school in Mumbai India, where some of the teachers are Hindus and they wear the full Hijab while on the school premises. There is another Madrassa in Bengal where Hindu Children are enrolling to learn about Islam, what if they remain Hindus and want to preach Islam? John Esposito is one of the most respected scholars on Islam in America, he is a devout Catholic, and he must have an equal opportunity to run Islamic Organizations, should he not?

Building cohesive societies to function smoothly and bring productivity to every human should be our civic responsibility.  Wasn’t that the call of Jesus, Moses, Muhammad, Krishna, Bahaullah, Nanak and others to create the kingdom of heaven? Didn’t they want societies where no one had to live with apprehension of others?
The world has indeed become a global community. Everyone is a neighbor to everyone else; we aspire to nurture the concept of good neighborliness in the world. The advisory board for World Muslim Congress will be represented by individuals from every faith. It is time for us to be equal citizens of one world; our home. This is a major paradigm shift in how the religious organizations would be conducting their business in the coming years.

Swami Vivekananda gave a new meaning to the Hindu philosophy of tolerance.

http://theghousediary.blogspot.com/2011/03/swami-vivekananda-gave-new-meaning-to.html

As I was reading the article about Swami Vivekananda, several paragraphs struck me and I am inspired to write the following article.

When Swamiji talks about, “The Christian is not to become a Hindu or a Buddhist,” He was talking about religion is a pathway to spirituality. I had just responded to Mr. Yogi Sikand on an article about Dawah work in Islam by Maulana Wahiduddin, and Missionary work in Christianity.

In my note, I was hoping to read what the Dawah (an invitation to convert) was for? Is it to make one a Muslim or to guide the person to become the righteous one?  Same question goes to Christianity, Sikh, Baha’i, Hindu and other traditions.

When Jesus said, “follow me”, Krishna said, “Surrender to me” and Allah says, “submit to my will”, the call was to follow God’s law of nature; to live cohesively and in harmony. It is about bringing a balance and equilibrium to everything we do. Balance is sustainable and extremity is not.

Personally I value every religion, and do not consider the need for any one to change his or her faith unless he or she finds solace in a different faith other than the one s/he is accustomed to. Every faith does what it is suppose to do to the believer; bring peace of mind.  No one should compel one to convert or prevent one from converting, let one choose what one believes to bring tranquility to him and harmony with others.   Let it be an individual’s choice.  What difference does it make to you if I eat different food, wear different clothes and speak a different language?

Swamiji touches on diversity, indeed, because we are diverse we have survived if we were all one, we could have been wiped out with one single disease. Each one of us is endowed with a different thumb print, DNA, eye print etc, so let’s have a different faith as well. To repeat his words, “The Christian is not to become a Hindu or a Buddhist,”

Conversion assumes a deficiency in the other faith and that is sheer arrogance. However, I would guide one to be a better Hindu, Jew, Christian, Muslim and ultimately a better human, which is the essence of every religion.  Mahatma Gandhi had emphasized the same thought and Prophet Muhammad’s first model of education was to be truthful, trustworthy and caring and he was called Amin by the people around him.  Jesus embraced every one without flinching, and accepted the otherness of other, in fact he said let’s condemn the sin but not sinner, that was the ultimate in inclusion or I call it Pluralism.

The other thought that really touched me was, “Swamiji was in favour of harmony among religious beliefs and against one religion for all.”

Indeed the Foundation for Pluralism is about that, and the Parliament of Worlds Religion has set the lofty but simple goals such as: harmony rather than unity, convergence of purpose rather than consensus of belief and facilitation rather than structuring.

Those of us who feel insecure about the interfaith movement and fear losing our identity or diluting it, please be assured that the goal of the Parliament is NOT to UNITE religions, but to facilitate a platform to learn about the others first hand and work together for the common good of mankind. 90% of religion is about doing common good; only 10% of it is rituals that give it its own uniqueness.

There is no proselytization element in any of the events the Parliament facilitates. You may love the theme in Melbourne, “hearing each other and healing the earth”. Indeed, that is the need of the day; hearing each other first hand.
The City of Chicago has honored the Swami by naming a street after him, and now get ready to honor the Swami again in 2014 at the Parliament of World’s religions in Brussels. Save the monies and get ready. Insha Allah, God willing, see you there with a topic on Swami Vivekananda.

Defining Cohesive Socities

I have been struggling to put words together about the spiritual balance in a society and I was just thrilled and excited to read this, it describes my belief in the universal energy and the individual energies that make the whole. Indeed, I am working on redefining sin in the future societies and this one helps tremendously.

I found this pic in the bathroom of Unity Church of Richardson, thanks to iphone and I am pleased to share this wisdom. I will be posting this at www.AmericatogetherFoundation.com and Foundation for pluralism as well.

Who are the Rebels in Libya, my talking points on Hannity

http://theghousediary.blogspot.com/2011/03/who-are-rebels-in-libya-my-talking.html

Who are the Rebels in Libya, my talking points
Mike Ghouse on Hannity Show.

The commanders are having difficulty identifying the Gaddaffi loyalists, as all of them are in civil clothing.

The intelligence sources are finding an easy way out to “guess” Al Qaeda and Hezbollah among rebels.

President Reagan’s wisdom echoes in my ears, “Trust but verify,” we need to quit guessing and blunder as we did with WMD and Iraq.

If we cannot aim target Gaddafi, we should not fire.

Caution is preferable to blind shooting; we are not there to shoot, but there to protect the civilians from the massacre.

Throwing Gaddafi is the responsibility of the Libyans and not ours, we are there to prevent a massacre and NOT to fight for them.

It would be wrong for us to take the responsibility and deprive the Libyans the freedom they would have earned, cherished and worked to preserve it. They should own their freedom; it is theirs to be had. We should be no more than a catalyst.

We need to demand the NATO commander to produce verifiable information to be certain that Al Qaeda and Hezbollah are with the rebels. We should not simply be nincompoops to buy what is dished out. The media needs to question every thing to the point of harassment. Truth is more important.

The usage of the phrase Allahu Akbar, which is God is great is common among Muslims, the Al-Qaida Gang uses it and it is used when the Green bay Packers won the super bowl.  When your Jewish friends little girl kicks the goal in soccer, Allahu Akbar is said out loud.

Muslims routinely use the words like Allahu Akbar to appreciate things and not necessarily as a battle cry. They seek refuge in a higher power. In the Libyan context, it simply means God is great, Gaddaffi is not.
It does not mean they are Al-Qaida or Hezbollah; there are rumors that Israel is helping Gaddaffi with mercenaries as well. None of this must be believed blindly.

Neither CIA nor Mossad had inkling about it, and whatever they mustered to cook up, they did. Even the day before Mubarak resigned, their information was not accurate.

President Reagan had called the same Al-Qaeda Mujahedeen, the heroes; they were paid by us to fight the Russians. In case of Libya, they people are battling with Gaddaffi for freedom.

President Reagan’s missile nearly missed Gaddaffi, why can’t we focus on getting this one guy out… just this guy out; every one of his loyalists will disperse once the chief is gone.

We have an opportunity to regain our dignity we lost in Iraq and Afghanistan by targeting the civilians; we have to be an example to the world in civility. We should resist all the temptations to act like them, trigger happy.

Mike Ghouse
